Kenosha Fireworks Injury Lawyer

Firework Related Injuries

Fireworks have been a part of celebrations for hundreds of years. They are enjoyed by people young and old alike and are a source of wonder at all celebrations involving fireworks. Unfortunately, fireworks injure a large number of people each year. In 2006, 11 people died from injuries sustained from fireworks. Nearly 10,000 people were treated for injuries in hospitals as well.

Injuries from fireworks occur most frequently on and around holidays which traditionally are associated with fireworks celebrations. In the United States, our two favorite holidays to use fireworks are Independence Day and New Year’s Eve. Despite having two holidays for use, two-thirds of all of the injuries that were reported in 2006 occurred between June 16th and July 16th. This means that two-thirds of the injuries were tied to the Fourth of July and the rest were split throughout the year.

Of the injuries in 2006, one out of every three people injured was under 15. Males were injured three times more frequently than females and almost half (47%) of all injuries were inflicted on people under the age of 20.

Fireworks or firecrackers give people burns more than 50% of the time. This makes sense as burning elements and chemicals give fireworks their beauty. Burns were the most common injuries to all areas of the body except the eyes and head. The eyes and head more frequently were afflicted with contusions, lacerations, and foreign bodies in the eye.

In addition to bodily injure, fireworks can damage property like homes and automobiles. If you have been injured by a firework or firecracker, contact the Kenosha fireworks injury lawyers of Habush, Habush, and Rottier at 1-866-499-4700 to discuss your case and to determine your legal options.
