Take pictures of any visible signs of abuse or neglect. This could include bruises, scratches, burns, bed sores, and lacerations. Talk to your loved one and visit them often. Frequent visits will help you be more familiar with the staff and how they treat the resident. You may also want to ask questions to roommates, if there are any, and to the administrative staff of the nursing home to get an idea of who regularly provides care to your loved one.
