Family Awarded $38.5 Million In Malpractice Suit

Posted on Wednesday, February 13th, 2008 at 5:02 am

The family of Spencer Oram, who was born with cerebral palsy, was awarded a $38.5 verdict in a malpractice suit against obstetrician Dr. Corinne De Cholnoky. The lawsuit, filed nearly three years ago, claims that De Cholnoky should have performed a caesarean section earlier on Spencer, whose umbilical cord was blocking blood flow to his brain. Spencer’s twin sister, born 27 minutes earlier, does not suffer from cerebral palsy.

Wisconsin Officials Place More Bridges Under Scrutiny

Posted on Monday, February 4th, 2008 at 11:02 am

Last August, the collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis resulted in 13 deaths, over 100 injuries, and a decision by Wisconsin officials to scrutinize bridges with similar structures to the one that collapsed – about 14 bridges in all.

Now, new evidence provided last month by federal officials suggests that the “gusset” plates used in bridge construction to hold together beams and members of the bridge may actually be weak points that contributed to the August disaster. In response, Wisconsin officials plan to expand the number of bridges under examination to 127, since all truss bridges use gusset plates as part of their construction.

If you have been injured because of a construction accident or negligence by another party, a Kenosha personal injury attorney from Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® can help. Call 866-499-4700 today.
