Man Reluctantly Files Personal Injury Suit Against Church

Posted on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 at 8:02 am

A Texas man has filed a personal injury suit against a church as a result of injuries sustained while performing yard work, even though he was initially reluctant to do so.

Galveston resident Harvie Collins’ lawsuit alleges that the Compton Memorial Church of God In Christ knew about a hole in which he fell while performing tree maintenance on a lot owned by the church.  As a result of the fall, Collins suffered hip injuries requiring surgery.

Collins said he was reluctant to file the lawsuit, as he has a long relationship with the church.  However, the church’s insurance company denied any wrongdoing whatsoever on the part of the church, leading Collins to take further action.
According to the suit, Collins’ injury caused him pain, disfigurement, and mental anguish.  Collins also said he has amassed large medical bills as a result of the surgery.  The suit claims that the church’s failure to warn Collins about the hole led to his injury.

If you or someone you know has suffered a personal injury as the result of another party’s negligence, it is important to contact a qualified attorney as soon as possible.  Contact your Kenosha personal injury lawyer at 800-242-2874 to discuss your options for compensation.
