2 Injured in Crash

On Sunday afternoon, a two car crash occurred in Burlington. The crash was reported at 3:51pm along Highway 142. Police believe that one of the cars crossed the center line and struck the other head on.

The drivers of both vehicles were air lifted to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa for treatment of serious injuries. No one else was injured in the crash. Police are still investigating.

Woman Killed in Crash

On Monday night, a rollover crash occurred near Coloma along I-39. Around 11:45pm, the driver lost control of her vehicle and rolled several times after hitting the median.

The woman was wearing her seat belt but was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no one else in the vehicle at the time, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Police are investigating.

5 Still Hospitalized after Crash

On Friday, a crash occurred involving a Department of Corrections van carrying 10 inmates. The van rolled over along Highway 142 around 10:35pm in Paris when the driver swerved to avoid hitting an animal.

All 10 inmates were injured in the crash and 5 of them remained hospitalized as of Monday. One man died at the scene and another was listed in critical condition until Sunday when the hospital reported that he was no longer a patient.

3 Injured in House Fire

Early Wednesday morning, a house fire trapped an elderly couple in their home on 23rd St. Around 1:04am, firefighters were called to the scene and found and extracted the couple after their adult son was unable to help them.

All three were taken to area hospitals for treatment. According to the Kenosha Fire Batallion chief, the fire was caused by a candle that was left burning in the living room of the house.

Man Dies in Tree Cutting Accident

In Elm Grove, three men were attempting to remove a tree from a private residence when it collapsed. Around 9:50am Friday, one of the men was about 42 feet up in the tree when it fell.

The man working in the tree was wearing a safety harness, attaching him to the the tree. He sustained fatal traumatic injuries in the fall and was pronounced dead. No one else was injured.

Government Improves Safety Standards for Food

In the wake of several large food recalls, the federal government is tightening regulations surrounding food. This year alone, there have been three major food recalls that involved salmonella or E coli.

The Food and Drug Administration and the Agriculture Department are adopting the standards which will affect eggs, poultry, beef, leafy greens, melons and tomatoes.

Gas in Cafe Injures 1

Around 6am, fire crews were called to the Gateway Cafe on 30th St to investigate a gas smell. It is believed that a gas supply was left on overnight and found by an employee early this morning.

There were reports of an employee suffering an eye injury related to the gas leak. Hospitalization was confirmed, but the extent of injury to the employee was unreported.
