by Administrator 30. March 2010 04:42

The death of a man who overdosed was said by his family to be an accident. According to the Kenosha County medical examiner's report, the man took a lethal concoction of OxyContin, cocaine, and methadone.

The man had a prescription to OxyContin as a result of a 2007 motorcycle accident. The man apparently had been in and out of treatment programs since the motorcycle accident.

Fuel Spill Closes Highway 31 in Kenosha County

by Administrator 18. March 2010 02:36

On Friday March 12, a diesel fuel truck tipped over on Highway 31, spilling 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel onto the road and surrounding areas. Authorities are not yet certain what caused the single vehicle accident. The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

The highway remained closed most of Friday while clean-up crews began clearing the roadway. The Somers Fire Department, Kenosha County Police Department, and Veolia Environmental Services were among the crews on site after the crash. It could take as long as a month to completely remove the spilled fuel and contaminated soil. While no other accidents have been reported at the spill site, this semi tractor trailer crash is a reminder of how hazardous even a minor fuel truck accident can be.
