A firefighter and paramedic from Trevor was killed at 2:57 AM Saturday in a single-vehicle crash when the truck he was driving struck a utility pole in Salem on the 12200 block of 204th Avenue (Highway B).

Honda recalls Civics for defective airbags

Posted on Friday, August 20th, 2010 at 2:12 am

This week, Honda Motor Co, Ltd. announced the recall of 77 Honda Civic 1.6 VTi-S cars produced between 2001 and 2002.

Honda issued the recall after discovering that some of the Civic models contained defects in the passenger-side airbag SRS inflator container.  Investigators found that the inflators did not have the appropriate amount of propellant, which can cause the airbag to accelerate when deployed, and possibly rupture the inflator container.

There have been no reports of unusual deployment or injury related to the defect.  Honda decided to issue the voluntary recall in order to protect its consumers and replace the affected parts.

Two injured in accident on 39th Avenue

Posted on Friday, August 13th, 2010 at 12:33 am

Two Illinoisans were injured in a two-vehicle accident on 39th Avenue in Kenosha last Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred just before 2:30 PM on Saturday on the 6300 block of 39th.  A Cadillac, driven by an Illinois man, was traveling north on 39th Ave. when he veered over the center line and into oncoming traffic.  The Cadillac hit a Ford Taurus traveling southbound and driven by a 24-year old woman, also from Illinois.

Kenosha Fire Department officials had to cut the woman out of her Taurus before transporting her via a Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.  The woman suffered from multiple bone fractures as a result of the accident.  The driver of the Cadillac was initially taken to a local hospital, then transferred to Froedtert for a chest injury.  Police authorities stated that they did not believe either of their injuries were life-threatening.

AMA finds that more than 60 percent of doctors will be sued

Posted on Friday, August 6th, 2010 at 3:40 am

The American Medical Association has found that over 60 percent of doctors over the age of 55 will be sued at least once during their career.

This means that 95 malpractice suits have been filed for every 100 doctors, but many of the cases are dismissed or dropped. AMA surveyed 5,825 physicians from the Physician Practice Information survey and found their answer from one of the survey questions about how many claims were filed on each doctor in their career, but the outcome of the case was not asked.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a medical malpractice case, you need experienced representation on your side. Contact the Kenosha medical malpractice lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® by calling 800-242-2874.
