A 49 year-old gastroenterologist from Marshfield has been sentenced to five years in prison and ten years extended supervision after he plead guilty to sexually assaulting his female patients who were under the effects of anesthesia. He was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault.
The Wood County District Attorney asked the judge for 25 years in prison, but the judge decided the former doctor was not a danger to society as he appeared to be genuinely remorseful. He has received medical attention for his self-described problem.
Accusations arose in 2009 after a female patient woke up and found the man touching her inappropriately. Past complaints date back to 2005.
