NTSB wants nationwide cellphone ban

Posted on Tuesday, December 20th, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Last week the National Transportation Safety Board announced that it was proposing a nationwide ban of cellphone use behind the wheel, including hands-free as well as handheld devices.

Most states have laws against new drivers using their cellphones and the NTSB has wanted to ban cellphone use for commercial truckers and bus drivers, but this is the most widespread ban it has recommended to date.

The board cites the fatal multi-car pileup crash in Missouri last year as an example of the hazards of a distracted driver. A 19 year-old sent or received 11 text messages 11 minutes before the accident, which killed him and a 15 year-old.

If you or someone you love has been harmed or worse due to a distracted driver using his or her phone, contact the Kenosha auto accident lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874.
