Ci Sport lunch boxes recalled for leak hazard

Posted on Thursday, January 26th, 2012 at 7:04 pm

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 248,000 Ci Sport expandable lunch boxes are being voluntarily recalled by California Innovations, Inc. due to a potential chemical leak in the freezer gel packs.

The company received two reports of dogs chewing and ingesting the freezer gel packs, which contain the poisonous chemicals diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol. One of the dogs was able to recover, but the other one died.

The three-piece lunch box came with an aluminum bottle and a freezer gel pack and were sold at Costco, Leon Korol, and Cost U Less stores. Consumer who have purchased the product can return it to Costco for a full refund.
