Two injured in accident on 39th Avenue

by Administrator 13. August 2010 00:33

Two Illinoisans were injured in a two-vehicle accident on 39th Avenue in Kenosha last Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred just before 2:30 PM on Saturday on the 6300 block of 39th.  A Cadillac, driven by an Illinois man, was traveling north on 39th Ave. when he veered over the center line and into oncoming traffic.  The Cadillac hit a Ford Taurus traveling southbound and driven by a 24-year old woman, also from Illinois.

Kenosha Fire Department officials had to cut the woman out of her Taurus before transporting her via a Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.  The woman suffered from multiple bone fractures as a result of the accident.  The driver of the Cadillac was initially taken to a local hospital, then transferred to Froedtert for a chest injury.  Police authorities stated that they did not believe either of their injuries were life-threatening.

The dangers of distracted driving

by Administrator 29. April 2010 04:19

While car accidents occur for a variety of reasons, one of the more common causes of car accidents is distracted driving. According to a 2006 report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving contributed to one quarter of car accidents.

The report also noted that drivers who use their cell phones are four times more likely to be involved in an accident. As a result of these studies, the majority of states have passed restrictions or bans on driving while using a cell phone.
