32 year-old Jim “The Real Deal” McNeil was killed over the weekend when his motorcycle malfunctioned during a practice jump in Fort Worth, Texas. McNeil practicing for the Texas Motor Speedway exhibition.

Witnesses say his motorcycle suffered mechanical failure, causing him to miss his landing following a jump. He died on the way to Fort Worth Hospital from blunt force trauma to his chest and neck after hitting the handlebars and then the ramp.

McNeil competed in the X Games five times and was a member of the Boost Mobile FMX team for nearly a decade. He was an experienced rider and was wearing all his protective gear at the time of the accident. This is the first accident in fourteen years, according to the tour’s manager.
