ELLENSBURG, Wash. – A man was fatally crushed Saturday afternoon when an excavator boom fell on him, Kittitas County sheriff’s officials said.
The 44-year-old victim died at the scene, despite rescue efforts by his sons, a police officer, and other rescue worker.
The incident occurred at Solid Rock Contractors on Saturday afternoon. According to the police report, the victim’s 16-year-old son told police that his father has been working under the excavator’s boom on the machine’s hydraulic line. Hydraulic fluid suddenly shot, and then the boom collapsed on the man.
Sheriff’s deputies and the coroner’s office are continuing their investigation.
