Kansas – The father of a hit and run victim is filing a wrongful death suit against the man convicted of the hit-and-run accident that killed his son.
The Kansas University student’s father is seeking in excess of $75,000 in damages from the man convicted of vehicular homicide and leave the scene of an injury accident in February 2008.
The defendant turned himself into police after hearing that the victim had died. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and two years of supervised probation.
The civil lawsuit claims that the defendant operated his vehicles “in a negligent, reckless, and wanton manner without regard for the safety of others,” and that he struck and killed the 22-year-old university student.
