This week, Honda Motor Co, Ltd. announced the recall of 77 Honda Civic 1.6 VTi-S cars produced between 2001 and 2002.
Honda issued the recall after discovering that some of the Civic models contained defects in the passenger-side airbag SRS inflator container. Investigators found that the inflators did not have the appropriate amount of propellant, which can cause the airbag to accelerate when deployed, and possibly rupture the inflator container.
There have been no reports of unusual deployment or injury related to the defect. Honda decided to issue the voluntary recall in order to protect its consumers and replace the affected parts.
