An accident at a construction site in Toronto last week resulted in one death and five injuries. The construction workers were using a drilling rig to dig for a new subway station when it collapsed and fell on two construction vehicles.
One man inside a vehicle later died of his injuries at the hospital. Another man in the second vehicle waited two hours with a broken femur as emergency crews worked to remove the fallen drill. Four men on the ground were also injured and taken the the hospital.
All men were hired by the Toronto Transit Commission. An investigation will be launched as to what caused the drill to fall. Police on the scene say the ground near the accident was unsteady.
Our sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
