A 31 year-old Superior man, convicted of second degree sexual assault in 1998, was arrested and is facing new felony charges after he began volunteering to watch young children at a local church.

The convicted sex offender has been ordered to not have contact with minors and must stay on the registered sex offenders list for life. He has been charged for failing to update his registry information and having a Facebook account under a false name.

The pastor of the church called Superior Police Department after seeing an article about the man in the newspaper. According to the pastor, the sex offender and his girlfriend would volunteer at the clothing center together. He is scheduled to arrive in court next month.
