A California woman has been awarded nearly $415,000 by a jury in her slip and fall lawsuit against Costco.
In April 2009, the 58 year-old woman was having lunch at the store’s food court when she slipped and fell in a puddle of liquid soap. The fall shattered her knee cap, an injury that has required one surgery and possibly two more. Surgeons had to wire her knee back together and she will have permanent limited mobility, function, and pain as a result.
In the 12-0 jury decision, nearly $90,000 was awarded to her for her past and future medical expenses and $325,000 for her past and future pain and suffering.
