A 43 year-old Mayville high school teacher has been charged with six counts of sexual assault and six counts of child enticement, charges that carry a maximum of 186 years in prison, for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17 year-old student.

Their relationship allegedly began when the boy was 16. Although the student’s family moved to Iowa, reports state that the relationship continued both in Iowa and in Wisconsin. The teenager’s sister is believed to have notified authorities of the illegal relationship.

Although the student says the relationship was consensual, his age makes it illegal. The teacher has been on paid administrative leave since her arrest on Sunday.
