A Lake Forest father has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the tour operators of Wilderness Ventures after his teenage daughter was killed on a camping trip last July. The girl was struck by a 75-foot falling tree and never regained consciousness.
The Teton County Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as an accident. The high school sophomore was with a dozen other 16-year-olds in Wyoming setting up camp when the pine tree snapped while two tour guides were installing bear-proofing measures on it.
According to the Lake Forester, the father is also suing the tour company for negligence and willful and wanton conduct as well as seeking $300,000 in damages.
