A Concord law firm has filed a class-action lawsuit against Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire in response to the two dozen individuals who have contracted hepatitis C after being treated or present at the hospital.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the outbreak was caused by staff using syringes on more than one patient. The attorney general’s office says it plans on conducting a criminal investigation.
Hepatitis C is a virus that causes inflammation of the liver and could possibly lead to chronic health problems, the Boston Globe reports. One man says he has suffered from sleeplessness, pain and suffering, and high stress since his hospital stay.
